A wholesome and comforting dish made with rice, horse gram, and coconut — rich in protein and perfect for a quick lunch or light dinner.
Soak horse gram in water for 2 hours (skip if using sprouted horse gram).
In a pressure cooker, add washed rice, soaked horsegram, lightly crushed jeera and pepper, salt, and water.
Cook for 3 whistles, then reduce the flame and cook for another 10 minutes (or 4 additional whistles).
Once the steam releases, open the lid and add grated coconut.
Mix well and serve warm.
Pairs perfectly with any thuvayal (chutney) like coconut thuvayal, toor dal thuvayal, or thoothuvalai thuvayal.
If excess water is there, just mix the content and keep it on low flame for few minutes to get it as per your required consistency.
