An Easy-to-Cook Recipe for Rava Idli with Millet

Step by step method

  • Step 1

    Mix the rava and curd well without leaving any lumps. Add salt and ferment overnight.

  • Step 2

    Before making idli: Heat a teaspoon of ghee in a frying pan and fry the cumin seeds, pepper and curry leaves and transfer to a bowl. Add the remaining ghee to the frying pan and fry the cashews. Add the above to the batter and mix well.

  • Step 3

    Use idli maker and prepare rava idli.

Tips & variations

  • Method to prepare Samai rice rava is given:

  • If using idli cooker: Apply ghee or oil on the idli plates and then pour the batter.

  • If using traditional idli maker with cloth: Wet the cloth and spread it on the idli plate. Pour the batter and steam it. While taking idli, flip the plate on a bowl and take the plate away. Sprinkle some water on the cloth so that you can take the idli with out sticking to the cloth!
