Tasty Jeera Rice made Healthy with Millets – Simple Recipe

Ingredients

Step by step method

  • Step 1

    Heat ghee in a cooker on medium flame. Add cloves, cardamom, cinnamon and star anise and saute them. Add jeera and pepper and fry for a minute / jeera will splutter.

  • Step 2

    Now add onion and fry until it becomes transparent.

  • Step 3

    ⁠Add the ginger, and garlic paste and sauté until the raw smell settles.

  • Step 4

    Add the curd and mix well. Once the curd mixes well, add the millet to this and saute for 2 minutes.

  • Step 5

    Add 1 and 1/2 cups of water and salt. Close the cooker with the lid and cook for one whistle.

  • Let it cool on its own. Tasty ghee rice with varagu millet is ready for serving.

Tips & variations

  • Side dish: Vegetable kurma is a good choice for ghee rice. Brinjal curry is also a good combination.
