Simple Recipe without Onion and Garlic – Healthy Biryani with Millet
Wash the foxtail millet and soak it for 30 to 45 minutes.
Heat the oil in a wide cooker keeping the flame in medium heat. Add the cumin seeds, chopped tomatoes, salt, garam masala, and red chili powder and saute for 2 to 3 minutes.
Once the raw smell settles and the tomatoes are soft add the ginger and saute for a few more minutes.
Add the vegetables and saute until they combine well with the masala.
Now add the foxtail millet to the cooker. Stir until it mixes well. Add the yogurt and stir well.
Add the coriander leaves, mint leaves, and almonds, and stir until it mixes well. Then add the ghee and water.
Close the cooker with the lid and cook for 1 whistle and turn the flame low. Keep the flame low for 2 to 3 minutes and you will get the biryani fragrance. Turn off the heat and let it cool.
The yummy millet biryani is ready for serving.
Note: If you want you can add onions and garlic. Onions in step 3 before adding tomatoes and garlic can be ground with ginger.
Side dish: Onion raita or cucumber raita will be suitable for this yummy biryani.
