Tasty and Healthy Puttu made with Ragi millet – An Easy- to- Cook Recipe
Dry roast the ragi flour for a few minutes and keep it in a wide vessel.
Add salt with 1 cup of water and sprinkle it on the flour. Mix it well and keep it for 5 to 10 minutes.
Mix the flour well and steam it in an Idli cooker or any similar steamer for 5 minutes.
Transfer it again to the vessel and mix it well.
Use the puttu maker and stuff the flour and the grated coconut alternately and steam it for 6 to 8 minutes.* You will get a very nice aroma when it is cooked.
Add the dry ginger powder and cardamom powder and mix well.
Tasty and healthy Puttu made with Ragi millet is ready for serving!
Step 6 is optional, if you do not like dry ginger or cardamom or both, you can avoid using that!
Coconut is already added in the puttu itself, but you can add some more coconut if preferred.
* If the puttu maker is not available, steam it again using the idli cooker or any other steamer. Then add grated coconut to it.
Serve the puttu with sugar and ghee. You can even use palm sugar instead of sugar. Kadala curry will be another combination for puttu.
