Step by step method

  • Step 1

    Cook the idiyappam mix as per the instructions given in the packet*. Once it is cooled, make it into pieces and keep it aside.

  • Step 2

    Heat the oil in a kadai and add the ghee. Once it becomes hot add the bay leaf, cinnamon, cloves, and cardamom,, and sauté them for a while.

  • Step 3

    Add the onion, and ginger-garlic paste and fry until the raw smell disappears. Then add mint leaves, tomato, and green chillies, and sauté.

  • Step 4

    Add the vegetables, green peas, and salt, mix well, and cook until the vegetables are cooked well. (you can see the oil getting separated from the veggies)

  • Step 5

    Add the cooked idiyappam to the vegetables in the kadai and mix it gently until it combines well with the vegetables. And finally, add the coriander leaves and turn off the stove.

Tips & variations

  • Side dish: Serve with cucumber and onion raita.

  • Note: *Cook the idiyappam as per the instructions given in the packet as there are varieties of packet idiyappam that might need different procedures.
