Tasty sambar with a vegetable for idli or dosa!

Ingredients

Step by step method

  • Step 1

    Heat oil in a kadai. ⁠Add mustard seeds, chana dal, urad dal, red chillies and cumin seeds in the same order and saute them.

  • Step 2

    Add onions, curry leaves and sauté until the onions are fried well.

  • Step 3

    Add tomatoes and sauté until it becomes soft.

  • Step 4

    Add turmeric powder and 1/2 teaspoon salt. Now add the soraikkai and sauté until it mixes well with the other ingredients.

  • Step 5

    Add a cup of water and close the kadai with a lid, let the vegetable cook for 5 minutes on medium flame.

  • Step 6

    ⁠Now, in a mixie take the coconut, fried grams, ginger, green chillies and add a little water and grind it to a fine paste.

  • Step 7

    Add this coconut paste to the kadai and mix well. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt and one cup of water. Again close the kadai with a lid and cook for 5 more minutes on medium flame.*

  • Step 8

    Once the vegetable is cooked soft, switch off the flame. Finally, add the coriander leaves.

  • Healthy and tasty bottle gourd sambar is ready!
