Ingredients

Step by step method

  • Step 1

    Take all the ingredients, rice flour, onion, green chillies, ginger, coriander leaves, curry leaves, and salt, in a large mixing bowl.

  • Step 2

    Add 2 tablespoons of til oil and mix them well gently.

  • Step 3

    Add the required amount of water, little by little, to form a dough, (not very tight and not very loose).

  • Step 4

    Add the remaining til oil and knead the dough well. Close the dough with a wet cloth and keep it aside for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

  • Step 5

    Apply some oil on the backside of a banana leaf. (optional, you can spread the dough on the tawa directly) Take a ball-sized dough and roll it out into a thin roti on the banana leaf.

  • Step 6

    Heat a tawa over medium heat. Place the roti and take the banana leaf slowly leaving the roti on the tawa.

  • Step 7

    Cook for 1-2 minutes, flip the roti and cook for 1-2 minutes, or until lightly browned.

  • Tasty and healthy rice roti is ready for serving.

Tips & variations

  • Keep some water in a bowl and wet your hand frequently while spreading the dough on the tawa/banana leaf so that the dough will not stick to your hand and you can spread it easily.

  • You should be careful if you are spreading the dough directly on the tawa.
