A healthy side dish using all the skin and the pulp of the vegetables usually discarded while cooking!.

Ingredients

Step by step method

  • Step 1

    Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a kadai. Add urad dal, chana dal, chillies, and dhania and roast them until they turn golden brown in colour. Transfer the content to a plate and let it cool.

  • Step 2

    Heat the remaining oil in the same kadai. Add all the vegetable skin and pulps and fry them nicely until the water content disappears.

  • Step 3

    Take the roasted items, curry leaves, tamarind, and salt in a mixie and grind it coarsely.

  • Step 4

    Now add the vegetables and grind them coarsely(Do not grind to a fine paste)

Tips & variations

  • Note: This can be used as a sidedish for rice. Even we can mix this thoppa chutney with rice and eat.

  • It is healthy as we re using all the skin and the pulp of the vegetables. This is usually prepared when preparing 'mixed vegetable kuzhambu (Kalavai kai kuzhambu)' with the skin and pulp removed from the vegetables.
