Simple but tasty food – A Typical South Indian Upma made healthy

Ingredients

Step by step method

  • Step 1

    Cook the soaked pearl millet in a vessel until it becomes soft, drain the excess water, and keep it aside.

  • Step 2

    Take the ghee in a frying pan and once it is heated add the mustard seeds, jeera and curry leaves and saute for a few minutes.

  • Step 3

    Add the urad dal, chana dal, onion, green chillies and ginger and saute well.

  • Step 4

    Once it is fried, add half a cup of water and salt. Boil it until the water reduces to half of it.

  • Step 5

    Add the cooked pearl millet and finely chopped coriander leaves.

  • The pearl millet (kambu) upma is ready to serve.

Tips & variations

  • This kambu upma will be very tasty. Everyone in the family will like it👍🏻

  • Note: You can even use the broken pearl millet instead of the whole one.
