Simple Recipe for a Healthy Millet Breakfast/ Dinner Item
Soak the millet, rice, dal and fenugreek seeds together for 4 to 5 hours.
Grind the same in a wet grinder nicely. Add water little after little and grind it until the flour becomes smooth.
Transfer the batter into a bowl and add salt and mix it well. Let the batter ferment overnight.
Before preparing aappam, mix the batter and bring it to the dosa batter consistency, adding water if required.
Now, you can prepare aappam in the aappam vessel. Pour one full laddle of the batter and take the appam maker to rotate so that the batter spreads throughout the appa kadai.
Once the base is golden take the appam and keep it in a wide plate.
Do NOT flip the appam.
Do NOT keep tha appam one above the other, it will stick to the other one!
Side dish: Coconut milk with palm sugar is the best combination for this. You can even serve it with Vada curry/ Mixed Vegetable Kurma/ Vegetable Stew.
