A Traditional Healthy Snack item – Great Substitute for the Junk Snacks or Sweets Made with Sugar

Ingredients

Step by step method

  • Step 1

    Clean the rice and the millets with water and pat dry them in the shade.

  • Step 2

    Grind the mixture to a fine powder in a mixie or if you are going for more quantity you can grind in a flour machine also.

  • Step 3

    Dry roast the groundnuts and remove the skin and add to the flour.

  • Step 4

    Now, dry roast the fried grams, sesame and coconut separately and add to the flour.

  • Step 5

    n a thick bottom vessel take the jaggery and add 4 cups of water and heat it in medium flame for 4 to 6 minutes or until the jaggery melts to a juice consistency (do not over boil).

  • Step 6

    Take the millet powder in a wide vessel and add all the roasted items and mix it well so that all the ingredients are combined. Take a small amount of the mixture and keep it in a separate bowl for applying on the urundai.

  • Step 7

    Now add the hot jaggery juice with the mixture and mix well with a ladle.

  • Step 8

    Take a handful of the mixture and make it as a laddoo. Apply pressure and make it tight and roll it in the dry mix.

  • Healthy traditional sweet urundai is ready and you may place it in the air tight container.

  • This will be a great substitute for the junk snacks or sweets made with sugar.
